Drawing the perfect cat eye can be one of the hardest things to do when applying makeup. Practicing often is key if you really want it looking flawless. For this post, I am going to explain some handy tips to keep in mind when you go about practicing.
Picking out the liquid liner is the first and foremost thing to do (but it can really be a struggle). I always try to use one with a felt pen tip... they are much easier to use than the liner with the flimsy plastic tip. If you don't find a decent liner, it could show up light, streaky, smudgy, and so on. My all time favorite liquid eyeliner is the Nars Eyeliner Stylo in Carpates (aka black). The black goes on perfect no matter how you apply it (with no streaks or dull color!!. A good quality product really can make all the difference in this case. I feel like half the time I mess up is because of the liner itself... so it's very important to take the time to try on different brands. Everyone has a different way of putting on liquid liner... I start from the outer corner and then make my way to the inside of my eye. After I outline the cat eye, I have to fill it in (make sure you fill in as close to the lash line as possible!) It's important that the wing is drawn more up than out. The more you curve the wing up, the more the wing will compliment your eyelashes... and I kinda feel like thats the goal with liquid liner. If you wanna give your cat eye that extra somethin', put liner on the waterline of the top lid. This is a little difficult to do... but it results in darker looking lashes and a more dramatic eye. So basically its the icing on the cake. As for applying liner underneath the eye- that's personal preference. I like the smokey look best, so I either smudge a little black pencil under my eye, or will add some dark shadow and smudge it... or even both. However you make your cat eye, just keep practicing and soon enough you will be able to draw one in just a few seconds :)
Until next time,
Alex Bert
