In about a week I'm going to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (finally) and I was thinking to myself... is there any way I can look natural at the beach wearing makeup? After some experimenting with some products, I found a subtle yet fun way to do just that. First things first...getting a natural-looking pre-tan. I like to use St. Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Anti- Aging Multi-Action Face. Since the tan develops over a few days, it will seem as if you are getting natural color with the sun. For more immediate results, try Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self and Body Tanner. The beauty of this self-tanner is that it gives you faster results, without looking orange or fake (just make sure to BLEND!!). The next step on this quick and easy look is to cover up imperfections without a full-face of foundation. I have found that when I wear foundation in the summer, I break out and my skin looks oily because of the heat. What I like to do is add a little but of concealer under my eyes and in other spots where I have a blemish. A lighter color will work under your eyes, but try to use one closer to your skin tone if you are covering up anything else. One of my personal favorites is the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. The title itself basically describes why this product is so amazing- the texture is very smooth and blend-able, and gives you a subtle natural glow. I also like The 5 Camouflage Cream Palette by Make Up For Ever. I use the lighter shades for spots that need brightening, and the darker ones for cover up. Cream eyeshadow is perfect for summer in my opinion because of its wet, shimmery look. With just a couple swipes, you have just enough color for a summer day. I use Nars Eye Paint in Iskander. The consistency resembles oil paint... so it's going to be different than other shadows you have applied before. I feel the easiest way is to use this eye paint is with my fingers. I also have tried Josie Maran's Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow... And I have to say I was extremely happy with the results. This stuff screams summertime, and each shade is just gorgeous. My favorite is the Rio de Rose Gold shade...which I plan to buy before I leave for vacation. The last step to achieving your perfect natural beach look is the luminizer. I recommend a liquid or cream luminizer because it will stay on longer in the heat. Yes- I did use my favorite Living Luminizer, but I would also recommend Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand... or anything else with a creamy finish. I feel that that type of product goes hand in hand with the fresh beach look that is trying to be achieved and will typically stay on longer in the heat/water. So there ya go... by using just four products you have got an effortless ready-for-the-beach look. Bring on the mojitos and let the fun times begin.
