The other day I got a package in the mail from my mom. The box said "Sephora" on the side... so then I knew. It was about to get real.
I tore open the box to find another box full of eyebrow products. Theres just something about flawless brows that I can't resist. I was pretty pumped to try all my products out... considering I've been experimenting with eyebrow products more and more lately. This seems to be a reoccurring topic of mine, but why shouldn't it be? I have been on a quest to find THE best brow products. Lately I have been torn between powder or pencil. Powder appears to look more natural, but I have learned that finding the right pencil can look just as great, or better. And what about cream brow shadow, or liquid?? The possibilities are endless.
Because there are literally SO many options, it's all about personal preference and which products you happen to stumble upon. The formula for one brow pencil may throw you off so you don't wanna use pencils anymore. On the other hand, if you happen to use a pencil with a completely different consistency, you may then only swear by pencils. With all of the options we have today, I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should try as much as you can. And when you find a product you like, stick to it... but try something else when you get sick of it. There is bound to be a handful of products that you will like just the same.
The first product I tried in the eyebrow treasure chest I received was the Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick. I have always used their products, however they have never been my favorite. THIS product however, changed my view on the brand. The consistency has kind of a gel base, which keeps your brows in place without using brow gel itself. The pencil was a subtle enough color that it didn't leave obvious pencil lines within my eyebrow. I was able to create a natural looking flawless brow... and it was seriously effortless. I have never used a pencil quite like this!
I also found the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil and brow gel in the box. I have used this pencil before and talked about it in my blog. Its a quality product, and like the Smashbox pencil it has a fine tip, which is a MUST! When your eyebrow pencil is dull, it is easy to end up going outside your brows when filling in, and you end up with a mess. This pencil is a great go-to.. but I have used others that I prefer. Brow gel is also a great thing to have on hand as well. It doesn't have to be Anastasia brand... I feel like this is something you don't have to splurge on because it's just a clear gel. But this is nice on a day when you are on the run... you can shape your brows and have it last all day without having to take the time to fill them in. I love rocking a natural brow once and awhile.. because why not.
Also included in the mix was Benefit's High Brow Pencil. I do like the irridescent sheen the pencil has, and it is able to provide a brow lift. However, this is not my favorite pencil I have used to provide this effect. My favorite product to highlight the brow bone would be the Trish McEvoy 'Shell' Eye Brightener. The color is a light pink, so it looks more natural to me than the pearly white. But I guess it just depends on the color you prefer for your skin-tone. A brow bone highlighter isn't one of the most necessary products, however. Typically I just like to use a lighter shadow, or my cheek highlighter.
Another product I found in my box of surprises was the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Double Ended Mascara and Lash Fibers. Not eyebrow related... but I thought it was worth mentioning. One end is their classic mascara, and the other is a little wand with tiny faux lash hairs that cling to your lashes. After one coat of mascara, apply the lash fibers, and then finish off with a final coat of mascara. If long, spidery lashes are your goal, then I suggest investing in this product. I personally like mascara with more volume, but I do love the length that this mascara provides.
