Oh hello fellow readers.
It feels like I've been drowning in work the past few weeks. Not in school work but in the work that comes with being a makeup artist (in the works). First, I've been working on a grad student's thesis film. I have been doing the bare minimum with cosmetics for the film.... I have had to create cuts, bruises, scrapes, and even a dead body. The cuts I created did look pretty realistic, if I do say so myself.
I have also been working on photoshoots for the student run fashion magazine at OU, Thread. I worked on shoots with a variety of themes such as Wild West, 6 Different Designers, and Normcore. I would give you more details, but you will have to see for yourself in the October issue :)
Enough about my personal life...
Now moving on to products. I have had to re-up on some staples, aka my Nars Contouring Blush and RMS Living Luminizer. PS: last time I checked RMS
was running a promotion for a free brightening brush with purchase of the luminizer and 15% off your purchase first time purchase...
I have been recently obsessed with the Nars Pro Palette. Not that I have the money to afford it or anything, but it's fun to dream. This thing seems like a gift from the heavens.... you can make your own palette consisting of bush, highlighting blush, bronzer, pressed powder, and eyeshadow. Idk about you but if your a makeup fanatic like me, this is revolutionary.
I also picked up an Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar at Sephora. I got the color "Hush," which is an antique light pink. The gloss kinda smells weird, but it makes my lips soft and the color is pretty long lasting. However, the the packaging gets a little messy after you use it, but the mini brush included makes application super easy. Plus... I got it half off online at Sephora... woo hoo! So I suggest you check that out.
I don't wear eyeliner often, but this week I tried Tarte's Lights, Camera Lashes Close-Up Liner. I have never tried a mascara they gets so close to the lash line!! Because it got so close, it really made my eyes look bigger and my eyelashes look thicker. It's safe to say I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
As for hair products... I like to use creams to style and tame my wavy, frizzy hair. I've had good luck with Caviar CC Cream for Hair 10-in-1 Complete Correction. First of all it smells great (this is always a must for me) and doesn't leave my hair greasy. By applying a little more than a pea-sized amount and scrunching my hair, it makes my hair soft and holds my waves. I have had good luck with Living Proof's Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. Also smells like a dream, moisturizes, and holds my curls. I recently ordered the Leave-In Cream with Papyrus Milk by Klorane because I heard such good things about their dry shampoo (which I also ordered), so i will have to let ya know how I like it.
Tx for reading (as always),
Alex Bert
